Young Buck “Steroidz”

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Few things in rap these days are as lame and tired as 50 Cent diss tracks. That said, with “Steroidz”, Buck provides an impressively thorough and noteworthy 50 Cent dismantling. There isn’t any new information here, but the fact that Buck is angry or bitter enough to bring up things like snitching on Supreeme and name-dropping Bang Em Smurf is telling. He is either simply fed up with his contract situation enough to be this mean-spirited or he is just desperate for acknowledgment. Either way, this is a solid diss from a rapper who may actually just be entering his prime.

Crybaby Buck’s freedom from 50′s clutches has allowed him to (quietly) produce some of the best music of his career. Here, he links back up with Filmore’s finest and the results are quite nice. This is kind of beat that Buck should be rapping over. Joe steals the show. There are rumblings of these two recording more together. I support those rumblings wholeheartedly.
