Episode 16 is the 3rd installment of our West Coast Classic series. We thought a trilogy would work, but there is just so much to cover that we’ll be blessing you with WCC IV in a few weeks. On this show we have tributes to N.W.A., 2Pac and Golden State Warriors (Ras Kass, Saafir & Xzibit). We also have classics from Compton’s Most Wanted, Da Lench Mob, DJ Quik, Spice 1, J5, Mac Mall, Kam, E-A-Ski, People Under The Stairs, Threat, Above The Law, Kendrick Lamar, Tash, Brotha Lynch Hung and Warren G to name a few. We plan to drop part IV real soon, so make sure you catch up to all 3 installments first. We hope this goes down as one of the most complete and entertaining tributes ever assembled of West Coast hip-hop.

DJ Premier Tribute Show (2 Parts)

Episode 10, The DJ Premier Tribute, is our magnum opus. It’s only right: the greatest producer of all-time receives the greatest tribute of all-time. It was no easy feat selecting and sequencing tracks for this massive 380+ minute show. We hope after listening to the incredible Work of Mart homage, you’ll agree, DJ Premier is the GOAT. We’ve broken Episode 10 into 2 parts because when you cover Premo’s illustrious career, it’s impossible to include every masterpiece in just one show. But don’t worry- within both episodes, we’ve made sure to include all the ill-collabos, obscure remixes and of course, your favorite classics too! –Philaflava

A good little primer to set up the Compton rapper’s Red Album release today. If you’re unfamiliar with Game’s music or are one of the stubbron heads who still don’t rate him as a rapper, check it out. Best ear for beats around or just a beneficiary of circumstance? Shouts to Dirt Dog for the artwork. Download link and tracklist after the jump.

Nate Dogg – Nobody Does It Better

If Dre was the sound of G-Funk and Snoop was voice, then Nate Dogg was surely the harmony. Tying together lush production and smooth vocals with his rich, raspy melodies, Nate brought a defining quality to the music. Raised as a gospel singer in East Long Beach, he crashed onto the regional scene with his work on Mista Grimm’s “Indo Smoke” and Dr. Dre’s “Lil’ Ghetto Boy,” but it was his appearance alongside Warren G on “Regulate” that pushed him into the national spotlight. When Death Row Records collapsed under it’s own misdeeds, he took his talents from coast to coast, never failing to impress as the go to guy for that Californian vibe whilst giving career defining hits to the likes of Ludacris, Fabolous and 50 Cent. Many have tried to imitate him and some have even tried to snatch the crown as the king of the rap hook, but to no avail. They can come closer than close. Original they never could be.

Who gives a fuck about “X-2-tha-Z” and why?

Fuck. How long ago did “Paparazzi” happen and would anyone even remember that joint if not for the beat? Five or six years ago I caught dude on the “Up In Smoke” tour and all he did was follow Saafir around the stage like a puppy. I can’t believe he still raps. Dude should Sway-out at MTV. Starring in like eighty-three straight-to-DVD cinematic classics can’t hurt the wallet though.
