These 3 always sound pretty good together. A-Villa has also produced for Roc Marci in the past with great results.

Willie The Kid – Avalon Ft. Roc Marciano / Guilt

Initially I was a bit skeptical about a Willie & Bronze Nazareth collaboration since I’m not always a big fan of Bronze’s rapping. But he seems to be mostly sticking to production here and killing it on that end, and Willie continues his winning streak, so I’m in. ‘The Guilt’ finds Willie fully embracing his Wu-Affliate DNA; ‘Avalon’ has him back in fly mode, sharing space with the always dependable Roc Marci over that most famous David Axelrod sample.

A few more singles from this project are on Willie’s Soundcloud.

I’m about a week late on this, but still feel obligated to post it since both songs come from Aquamarine, which has snuck up as a dark horse on my personal top 10 of year list.

Both of these guys released music I’ve enjoyed tremendously this year, so this is a no-brainer. Bonus points for Bronze Nazareth giving this song a vague Wu-affiliate vibe.

I overlooked this originally, mistaking it for for a quickie odds/ends dump meant to follow up Masterpiece Theater. Turns out it’s a proper project that was a year+ in the making. And it’s damn good, very fitting for the last days of summer. Willie’s yacht rap fetishism reaches critical mass here, reaching past realistic aspiration to pure baroque fantasy. Occasionally he gets a bit cartoonish, but it’s all in good fun and in-line with his pedigree of influences. Consider that Camp Lo, an obvious point of stylistic reference for any and every rapper in this lane, likely never actually pulled elaborate diamond heists either.

First there was Yacht Rap, and it was good. Then there was Low Speed Chase, and that was also good. Now comes the next saga in the continuous rap-adventures of Chad. Still aboard Morgengruss X, adrift somewhere in (warm) parts unknown, Mr. Sexington linked up with Messrs. Grizzly and Note of Purple Tape Pedigree/Fresh Out The Box Radio to compile another set of smoothplayalisticyachtmuzik anthems for your enjoyment. So once again, douse the supermodels in Dom Pérignon’52 until their sarongs are see-through and enjoy.
