Purify Beats – “Remixes Felt III”

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Purify Beats tackles some heavy duty work reinterpreting Aesop Rock’s production power. And emerges victorious. He remixed Bazooka Tooth a few years ago and I liked it immensely. It was sparse next to the dense sample barrage of the original and let Ace Rizzlenator showcase his ‘WTF’ worldview.

Buy it hear or hear.

I can’t front on this Budo beat. Why are you wasting your time with your no-talent, ass clown of a BFF?

Psalm One wants 500 bars

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

If what we hear in the trailer is what we hear when this shit hits the fan, count me unimpressed. Looks like Game lit her fuse. Per Psalm:

Now, I know that we all love the hip-hop, but when I heard Game’s version, it angered me. The writer in me wanted to prove that you could actually talk about some shit, and not just ramble on, and microwave old beef.
Game has done 400, 300, 200 and 100 bar songs. They all pretty much sound the same.

I did 500 bars in a marathon 8-hour writing, then another 8-hour recording session with JayIlla. I’m releasing it as a mixtape, the second in my “Woman at Work” series. It will be out the week of June 1st. The first can be DL on the house, here: http://bit.ly/drlszb

And the video trailer for the song, can be seen here. Why do songs that go for 500 Bars need video trailers? Blame the Internets!

Didn’t the Game megabars sesh happen like three years ago, though?

How To Ruin A Pretty Good Album

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

<a onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/grievesandbudo.com/album/grieves-budo-remix-felt-3-a-tribute-to-rosie-perez');" href="http://grievesandbudo.com/album/grieves-budo-remix-felt-3-a-tribute-to-rosie-perez">Protaganist (Grieves and Budo Remix) by Grieves and Budo</a>

Not being familiar with Felt’s previous efforts I found last year’s Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez to be some wild shit. Primarily due to the power-production (nh) of Aesop Rock. Unfortunately nothing remains pure forever and the cum stain they call Grieves touched tips with Budo and this is the result. Start paying that dude in sandwiches.

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Jake One on the undefeated tip lends a hand to yet another bubbler. JFK is prepping his solo debut, Building Wings On The Way Down, on Rhymesayers. Probably last week on this one, but fuck it. Loving the beat.

Freeway Is That Dude

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

If you don’t have the best release of ’10 yet then you need to stop the fucking madness. Go here and do yourself a favor. Freeway over great production is top notch. Jake One needs to do an album for AZ next. –Philaflava

The Demise of Def Jux?

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Highly incendiary rumors are floating about concerning the collapse of EL-P’s baby, Definitive Jux Records. Aesop Rock on the verge of signing to Rhymesayers? Makes sense taking into account Felt 3 and Ace Rizzle’s permanent jaunt to the West Coast. Another question mark is the claim of $200K+ in debt beleaguering the label. The original post also takes note of Cage’s 180 from white rage to white guilt.

The end of an era? Baseless internet fodder? Anyone know……or care?

SHOUT: Conspiracy Radio

UPDATE: This is Slug’s statement: “there have been no discussions about aesoprock joining our roster.
seems like some unreliable-source-shit is going on.
plus, for a piece that is attempting to bring you the hot gossip, they sure did take some time to give their unfavorable opinions on cage.
whole piece smells like horseshit.
don’t believe the wipe.”
