Andre’s verse liberated from the turds among which it grew. At this point somebody really needs to put together (another?) comprehensive mix of all his recent guest verses.

Andre verses are too rare to waste on tepid R&B songs. Thanks to Brougham33 for the assist with the chop.

Friday, April 15th, 2011A to Z – Andre 3000
Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011Over the next couple months here on SteadyBloggin, I’ve decided to choose an underappreciated topic for each letter A-through-Z, and explain why it should be deserving of your attention. Because there are so many reasons to listen to rap, and unfortunately some of them go unnoticed.
A is for Andre 3000.

Andre isn’t the most underrated or unnoticed in the game, I’ll admit that. But he is definitely underappreciated, and he was always the more talented member of one of the best duos of all time.
Because first, you have the albums. Between six full length records you don’t have to dig much deeper than Outkast’s debut single Players Ball to hear Andre outshine his counterpart, as the performances on the song, along with the rest of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, foreshadow the remainder of the group’s catalogue. And that’s not to say Big Boi isn’t skilled in his own right, because he is, and in a lot of groups he would be the better rapper. Just not in this one.
Random songs I’ve been meaning to post – Outkast (c&s by Mike G) / GMane / Aleon Craft+SMKA / Ham+DJ Burn One / Main Attrakionz+Clams Casino / Danny Brown
Wednesday, September 8th, 2010I have a bunch of songs on my hard drive that I want to post… some brand new, some vaguely newish, some just new to me. I don’t feel like making individual posts for each, so here goes one big megapost combining them all. They are in not arranged in any particular order, and I don’t remember where some of them come from so advanced apologies if the origin isn’t credited correctly. The picture has nothing to do with anything, that’s just an awesome dog.

First… Outkast’s (Andre’s) ‘Spread’ Chopped & Screwed by OFWGKTA associate Mike G. A nice experiment, the lowered vocals work really well and so do the vaguely dusty instruments in the end. Found it on Mike G’s now defunct http://100sounds.blogspot.com/

Some old(ish) GMane. This man needs to put out more new music ASAP, I’m fiending over here.

Main Attrakionz + Clams Casino = good shit. I like the way Clams takes one of the mellowest love songs ever and turns it into something a little twitchy and jumpy and not really too romantic, but then Main Attrakionz still use it for something resembling a love song (kinda/maybe/possibly their version of I Used To Love H.E.R.?)

I’m not familiar with HAM, he does well on this weed song though. Burn One’s production is always worth checking for. Via Twitter/BLVDST

Aleon continues a winning streak of collaborations with SMKA, the Stargazing Soundtrack had moments of sheer brilliance (the end of Yoga Flame for example) . This song is from DJBooth’s Freestyle Series.

Last but not least, something new from Danny Brown. I think this is going to be on the upcoming Hawaiian Snow mixtape, which is definitely a collaboration with Tony Yayo and possibly features Lil B. I’m dying to hear that.

Sounds Like Summer – Volume Three
Sunday, July 4th, 2010As we continue on, our Sounds Like Summer series adds another volume while the humidex/heat index pushes past 100 in the north east. Somethin’ for your car, somethin’ for your hangout spot, or just somethin’ for you to chill to. Hella shouts to dirt_dog from TROY for the artwork. Outkast – So Fresh So Clean (let’s get it on reprise) / The Marvellettes – Too Many Fish In The Sea (Oooh Edit) : two edits by DJ B.Cause
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010DJ B.Cause makes some really great edits/blends/whatever you wanna call it. Here are two examples. The first puts Outkast over Marvin Gaye, for a result that sounds like what a summer evening feels like. The second takes a classic by a Motown doo-wop girl group and adds a bit of De La’s Oooh into the backbone, thus creating something that Scorsese would probably really like to dance to but wouldn’t know how.

Also, check out his Roger Troutman mix which I previously posted here.

Congratulations. You’ve managed to turn in the worst effort of your entire career. Is it that hard to rap?????

Bun B – ATliens freestyle
Thursday, June 24th, 2010This made the rounds yesterday in video form (a generic montage of Bun B wearing Lafayette tshirts to be exact). I figured I’d rip the audio, here it is in 320bit.
