Scott Lark – Bananas

Monday, October 10th, 2011

I did a spit take when I saw this pop up on Grandgood. Razzle Dazzle Ep is a personal favorite, but it was recorded in 96 and I haven’t heard anything about this guy since. Doesn’t seem like Lark’s style changed much since then, although the voice is a bit less nasally congested.

Company Flow – Krazy Kings Part III (3:33 Mix)

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

1am sitting in a pitch black room with a computer balanced on a pile of boxes music. Company Flow and 3:33 have both seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.

Adebisi – Ain’t Got Ft. Emcee Jermaine (Prod. by Noc Beats)

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Awwshit I’ve been waiting to hear more from Jersey’s Emcee Jermaine ever since he went all super rapper on “The Crazy 88″. Randomly he just turned up on a track with Adebisi, who I’m not familiar with but is also no slouch.

Tame One from Wax Poetics on Vimeo.

Tame One drops some interesting tidbits of Artifacts history and some views on the music industry. The video is actually an addendum to a thorough informative article on Tame’s history, which you can (and should) read over at the Wax Poetics site HERE.

Some very old never heard Redman/Tame One gems via the TROY forum

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

This right here is a good example of why the TROY forum is the shit… These tracks popped up on a soundcloud page of a producer named Rhino CMZ, then were relayed to TROY by The Custodian Of Records. These kinds of random unearthings happen on the forum frequently…

9. A Day Across The Water-Jam C, Tame, Redman by RHINO CMZ

3. The Niceez Pisces-feat Tame One by RHINO CMZ

These two jumped out at me initially but there’s more good stuff to be found on that soundcloud page, GO HERE. Huge props to RHINO CMZ for sharing them and The Custodian Of Records for the heads up.

VIDEO: Jermaine – Gone In 60 Seconds Pt 1. (Guerilla Fi Films) + some live perfomance footage

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Started looking for more of Jermaine’s music after hearing his impressive Crazy 88 track a few days ago. Found these videos, which are nice but not enough. Need to hear a mixtape or an album or something from this guy asap.

The live footage is embedded below the jump.

Jermaine – The Crazy 88

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Effortless relentless exhalation of bars, dude raps like a firebreathing dragon on here. And he’s from Jersey, always a plus in my book. Fans of classic east coast rap modes should be pleased.

Tame One – Freedom of Speech / Tone Liv – Splish Splash (taken from The Sampler Platter by The Custodian of Records)

Monday, August 16th, 2010

My appreciation of Tame One has been well documented on here and on the Philaflava boards. My appreciation of Tone Liv has been steadily rising ever since I came across Remarkable Mayor (expect to see some selections from their LP posted here soonish). NJ rappers in their mid-thirties FTW.

Nucci Reyo “Change My Name”

Monday, July 19th, 2010

There isn’t much I can say about this guy that Thun didn’t cover here. While the whole Christianity thing would be a turn-off 99% of the time, Reyo is compelling enough from a skills perspective that I catch myself hanging on every word.

And if you haven’t checked out The Crazies, put some bologna on ya face
