4 old-ish Mr. Lif songs (3 from Mo’Mega and one single released last year I think), accompanied by…. a Balkan brass band? Sounds odd on paper but it works really really well. Lif usually favors dense edgy production which thematically makes a good match for his subject matter. What we get here is almost completely opposite, with sparse drumming keeping pace for Lif’s delivery and horns floating in and out of the mix to cushion it. The effect is surprisingly hypnotic and mellowing, almost like Lif has left the podium and is now rapping from the nearest La-Z-Boy.
