New official video for Action, Shaz and Meyhem going to town over one of the greatest beats ever conceived under the sun. The song was featured on both Shaz’s and Meyhem’s recent mixtapes, both of which are very worthwhile.

If you’ve been paying attention to Meyhem Lauren and Action Bronson you should check this out too. Shaz comes from the same school of no-frills NY rap, the production is well suited, and the aforementioned Outdoorsmen contribute a couple of great guest spots. Two random thoughts… Shaz should do more with Don Producci, their collaborations are some of the tape’s highlights; also, Bronson’s verse on Black Rain maybe my favorite one from him yet.

This mixtape got about a second of buzz and then got buried in the usual daily internet music avalanche. Which is a shame cause it’s the shit, one of my favorite mixtapes of the year, well worth your attention. In some ways it’s the other side of the coin (or old subway token to keep it topical) to Roc Marcino’s much acclaimed Marcberg, with Marcberg bearing the oppressive gray griminess of New York in winter and Clarified Butter reminding of the aggressive pungency of a hot New York summer.
There is a slight irony here as Above The Clouds (maybe my favorite track on there) kinda contradicts the above theory, it’s one of the more introspective tracks on the album. Wright & Exact should balance that out nicely.
