Episode 9 might be titled the Calm Before The Storm, but it’s anything but. Our next show will be a DJ Premier tribute, so we wanted to take a short break from the tributes and get back to the traditional potpourri show. Special guest, Aaron Wade, sat in with us as we discussed and dissed each other’s Hip-Hop Mount Rushmore. We also announced the winner of our Evolution of The B-Boy Sticker pack contest and play some ridiculously dope music from Mobb Deep, Jeru The Damaja, Brand Nubian, Kool G. Rap, Gang Starr, Ice Cube, Das EFX, People Under The Stairs, Insight, J-Zone and Supastition. Plus, we threw in some new jawns by King Magnetic, Kendrick Lamar and a special K-Def/DJ 360 Beneficence remix. So, while you’re listening. think of who you’d put on your Mount Rushmore and then share your picks with us in the comment section. RIP Don Rickles!

On November 2, 2016 The “Take It Personal” Podcast was launched as the Golden Era and boom-bap-focused podcast to beat all Podcasts. Broadcasting all the way live from Del Boca Vista and brought to you by the Philaflava crew, who founded one of Complex Magazine’s “Top 10 Most Influential Hip-Hop Message Boards,” well as authoritative subject matter blogs, T.R.O.Y and Steady Bloggin‘, the show and its brand of witty nuance and authentic reverence is here to fill the nostalgia void in your heart, and, as Chino XL once said, “Here To Save You All.” Come to where Exit 33 meets Memory Lane at the Honeycomb Hideout, as DJ 360 and co-hosts Jason Gloss and Kevlar take you on a sonic voyage from past to present and back again!

Jay Electronica Needs Alcoholics Anonymous

At this point I don’t even know if we’ll ever hear that Roc-A-Fella album, but I do know if Jay doesn’t get some help soon, he is going to end up completely irrelevant. There was a point where you’d mention him along the greats like Black Thought, Andre, Jay and Nas, but it’s becoming sad now. Nobody wants to see this dude turn Greg Oden on us, but he got too popular, too rich, too quick. Clearly he isn’t on that Rothchild tit anymore but drunken Jay Elec is doing more harm than good these days on social media. –Philaflava

We caught some clips of Kendrick’s performance at VCU’s Homecoming and thought it was only right to find someone to screw the track. Chopped not slopped by @Slimk4. -Revo Media

Kinda diggin this idea of chopped and screwed videos (as opposed to videos for chopped and screwed songs). Not sure if the previous sentence makes any sense.

Kendrick dropping a verse over a DJ Battle Cat produced extrapolation of one of the greatest soul songs of all time, and it’s a weird 6 min jam with no real structure to boot …. holy shit. Between this and ‘Cartoons & Cereal’ Kendrick is really getting his ATLiens on.
