YayoDancing Presents: Riff Raff ‘The Rice Emperor’

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

The Mista Masta/Big Pic H-Town Hobgoblin aspect of Riff Raff’s shtick has me sold. Check “Larry Bird” to see what I mean. Throwed Savant. Dude has the style down. Phat Shoutz to the fine gents over at YayoDancing for liberating these costly .mp3s

So, there’s no good Riff Raff mixtapes on the internet. I mean there is, but they’re on iTunes, and paying for all of them would cost most of us at least half of our paychecks. Riff Raff’s mixtapes are sporadic and inconsistent to say the least, which is why all of the videos he’s done within the past few months have been songs from various stages in his career. I decided to do everyone a solid, as someone who actually purchased most of Riff Raff’s music; I decided to make a Best Of-style mixtape thus far. What follows will be a very strange, very #obtuse journey into the mind of one crazy redneck. Tracklist is as follows:

1. Larry Bird
2. Juice
3. Jose Canseco (feat. Fat Pimp)
4. Graveyard Music (G5 Kid Murph)
5. Lil B (feat. G5 Kid Murph)
6. Certified Worldstar
7. I C U
8. I Shoulda Brought The Rice Out
9. Swamp (feat. TKO Capone)
10. Walter Payton
11. Apple Berry
12. Coogi (feat. TKO Capone)
13. Super Bowl Rings
14. Cold Cup

K-Rino “Sick For No Reason”

K-Rino is still a stone cold death dealer. Straight-up Komodo Dragon head juxtapositionz, yo.

I’ve never given half a shit about this dude before now, but even breathe a word about this song and you have my full attention.

TKO Capone & Riff Raff “Harry Potter Swag”

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Every day for the past couple of months I was hoping that a few of hours would pass where I wouldn’t feel compelled to listen to this song. I was way fucking wrong. And happy about it.

Here’s a video for a fancier version of the song, “Louis Gucci”. Do yourself a huge favor and download Tropical Swaggin, Duh. Stay tuned for Swaggin Duck Season.

KAB Tha Don “187″

Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

Forcefully reminding me of a North Side Big Pokey, KAB Tha Don is the latest to join the ranks of huge Houston dudes with impeccable breath control. KAB would have sounded right at home on “Mann” (which might be the best song ever). There is a lot going on in this beat, but the down syndrome transformer trying to transform sound is my fave.

Download #WhatMuhfuka here and stay tuned, as Bully On Tha Beat should be out soon.

Big Mike & Chamillionaire “Heat”

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Great new shit from a guy who has been out of the spotlight for way too long. Well, two guys who have been out of the spotlight for way too long. I love Cham back in the hook/one verse lane and Mike slaughters his second verse here. This is just so comfortable. Bayou Classic should be cool as hell.

For some strange reason, Houston guys rap on this Kriss Kross beat in late June all the time…

D-Risha ‘Big Trouble In Houston, Texas’

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Houston’s D-Risha is pretty cool at rapping. Big Trouble is fucking good. Its been just about 3 years since The Last Dragon, and D-Risha’s technique has progressed a ton. Straight forward lyricism delivered with a lazer-precise flow over hard soulful boom-bap that isn’t anywhere near as corny as hard soulful boom-bap usually sounds in 2011. H-Town keeps creatin’ it.

Authentic Snoopy ‘Everything Ain’t Enuff’

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

Doper than dope debut tape from up and coming Houston spitsman Authentic Snoopy. The kid has styles for days and an excellent ear for production (this Geekins guy’s beats are serious). “I’m Cool” (KAB and Yung Truth is such a winning combo) and “Bomb Dot Com” are my immediate favorites, but there isn’t anything skip-worthy on this thing.
