Aleon and Grip really need to make a collaboration mixtape/album, produced entirely by SMKA. Every time they’re featured on a track together the results are stellar (see ‘Step Out’ for further proof).

Grip continues to make good songs based around going out/the shoes he wears when going out/people mistaking him for a hipster when he goes out. Meanwhile, Rittz deserves credit here for doing something different from what G-Side originally did with this beat and pulling it off well.

Based on the early leaks and the two Prologue Eps I’m expecting some quality Blacklight Poster Rap. So far Aleon and SMKA have managed to stay away from the fruitier aspects of that particular subgenre, hopefully that’s the case here as well.

I’ve been anticipating this. Step Out is great and I like the other Grip stuff I’ve heard previously. So I have a good feeling about this one.

Grip Plyaz is as country as it gets. His accent is as thick as the models he enlisted for his “Step Out†video, and his references are chock full of Southern-fried slanguage. With Volume 2 around the corner and Purp, Wind And Fire not too far behind, it looks as if the ATLien will be making waves this year. And it begins with 6 Pack: Volume 1, presented by DJ FU, Governed By Loyalty and TSS. Alongside the production of The Weathermen and with the the assistance of a few A-town natives, this mix is a precursor, one intended to raise familiarity with the artist and his sound.
