As I mentioned before iNDEED is the shit, and for this song ‘psychedelic country rap tunes’ actually feels like the exactly right description.

DJ Burn One DJ Dibiase & Trackstar The DJ – Presidential 3 (mixtape)
Friday, December 2nd, 2011
Part 3 of DJ Burn One and DJ Dibiase’s continuing mixtape series.
Burn One’s own description:
This week Burn One pays tribute to Three 6 Mafia’s Hypnotized Minds label, Dibiase stays screwed up and they’re joined with a special guest mix from DJ Trackstar. Roll one up.
Actually, this about 3 mixtapes worth of music in one, there are 3 sides and each one is about an hour long. I didn’t get a chance to post the previous 2 volumes but they were both very enjoyable, you can get them HERE & HERE.

DJ Burn One – The Ashtray (Free Instrumental Album, Presented by The Smoking Section)
Tuesday, July 12th, 2011
This doesn’t even really feel like instrumental hip-hop in the traditional sense, it’s more than that. It’s like the classic productions of Willie Hutch and Curtis Mayfield and Norman Whitfield, refracted through a prism of modern music, emerging with their soul not only intact but also renewed and evolved into something new and different that could in due time stand on equal footing with the originals.

VIDEO: DJ Burn One – The Ashtray Mixtape PROMO

DJ BURN ONE – THE ASHTRAY MIXTAPE PROMO from Tamarcus Brown on Vimeo.
I’ve been waiting for Burn One to release his instrumental opus ever since ‘Bobby Cox’ dropped last October. This classy promo raises expectations another notch. I was hoping to actually hear some of the music from The Ashtray in this, but that’s a minor complaint as the clip seems intended to convey mood more than anything else. And the mood feels right.
iNDEED – No Reggie Bush Ft. KD (Prod. By DJ Burn One)
Monday, June 13th, 2011
DJ Burn One’s work with iNDEED reminds me of Norman Whitfield and The Undisputed Truth. I wouldn’t take the comparison as far as labeling their work as ‘psychadelic country rap tunes’, its more like Burn One and his band use off kilter arrangements and production touches to experiment within the confines of an often formulaic subgenre, thereby tentatively expanding its boundaries. The result is country rap tempered with etherial, vaguely ‘jammy’ overtones that still mantains the harder edged core elements of its origins. Which is more or less what Whitfield and The Undisputed Truth did with soul during their time at Motown. See the two iNDEED features on the Joints mixtape for further evidence.

KD ‘G-Fluid’
Monday, April 11th, 2011
Everyone who talks about this album will mention “Country Rap Tunes”. Everyone. And it is perfectly fine, as there is really no other appropriate way to describe this thing. Out of everyone in the deep talent pool that Burn One produces for, KD sounds the most comfortable over his stuff. They just fit. Especially the beats that lean on soul and ride smooth. An excuse not to download this simply doesn’t exist. This shit is goooood.
“Running Away” is an immediate favorite.
… and “Cruzin” is just way too dope not to post.
Freddie Gibbs – Str8 Slammin (NO DJ)

I have not a clue where this came from but it’s too dope to overlook. Str8 Slammin is a collection of Gibbs songs & features that didn’t land on any official Gibbs mixtapes. It’s a very well put together compilation. All tracks are CDQ & No DJ! –Philaflava
