New G-Side, one of the bonus tracks that is going to be included on the Japanese release of the iSLAND. This should’ve been on the US release too.

G-Side – Trip (Prod By Parallel Thought)
Thursday, December 22nd, 2011Mr. Marcellus – I Got People (Unreleased)
Wednesday, September 21st, 2011
A little piece of Slow Motion Soundz history, courtesy of Codie G. Mr Marcellus, one of Huntsville’s most underrated rappers, re-purposing a Cool Breeze/Organized Noize beat for an ode to his hometown and SMS’ place within it. Recorded in 2004, when the label was already a staple of the Huntsville music scene.

BONUS: Codie actually sent two exclusive throwbacks today, one for us and one for the guys at DGB. Here is that second track.

Kristmas – Somethin Wrong Ft. Codie G (Prod. By David Sanders)
Tuesday, April 12th, 2011
The first single from Kristmas’ upcoming W2 Boy album, to be released on April 15th. I feel like this (selectively edited) Encyclopedia Britannica quote describes what Kristmas does here pretty well:
“The orator need not be a first-rate logician, though a capacity for good, clear thought helps to penetrate into the causes and results of tentative premises and conclusions and to use analogy, generalizations, assumptions, deductive–inductive reasoning, and other types of inference… Oratorical greatness is invariably identified with strong emotional phrasing and delivery. When the intellectual qualities dominate with relative absence of the affective appeals, the oration fails just as it does when emotion sweeps aside reason. The ideal orator is personal in his appeals and strong in ethical proofs, rather than objective or detached. He enforces his arguments by his personal commitment to his advocacy.”
This orator persona is only one side of Kristmas, W2 Boy is going to be this AND a whole lot more.

Southern isnt a sound its a thought process and essence
-Codie G via Twitter
The two men responsible for conceiving the SMS zeitgeist make a very rare tag-team appearance on wax, laying down the Speed Of Sound 2011 manifesto. Former intern, now full-time next generation Block Beatta R.Dot expertly flips a jazz classic to soundtrack the proceedings. Not going to bother with any further words, the song says it all.
Huge thanks to Codie for letting me drop this one.

The photo you see above was taken by our good friend and photographer extraordinaire Helen Pearson. It was a part of an expansive photo shoot that took place last Sunday in New York before and during G-Side’s show at Lit Lounge, featuring G-Side along with the three people who made the song above. G-Side – The ONE… COHESIVE (album stream) Deluxe Edition Post With BONUS Features And Commentary
Monday, January 3rd, 2011Almost a year’s worth of impossibly high expectations has been met and exceeded. Simply put, this is a great album. You need to hear it.
You can stream the whole thing below, and underneath that you can find some bonuses: a song that didn’t make the album, a video for Relaxin’, plus a few rambling subjective thoughts about the album from yours truly.

1.1.11 #3 from Lawrence and Clark on Vimeo.
Final (and best yet) commercial before the rapidly approaching and highly anticipated 1.1.11 release date. If you missed the previous two commercials you can see them on Lawrence and Clark’s vimeo page here.
As a refresher, I put together a brief collection of my favorite G-Side songs released in 2010. I purposefully left off all remixes, ST and Clova solos and group guest appearances – the 6 songs included are (imo) the pure distillation of what the group had to offer this year as a representation of their unique aesthetic. THESE are why I’m looking forward to their next album.
Included are:
G-Side – Dreamz
G-Side – Impossible ft Geographer & Jhi Ali
G-Side – Money In The Sky ft Chris Lee
G-Side – Back 2 Tha Future
G-Side – #ImSorry (only a tagged mixtape version was released, #ImSorry)
G-Side – Relaxin ft GMane
G-Side – Relaxin’ ft G-Mane

Huntsville Got Starz & Slow Motion Soundz Present: Huntsville Starz Resurface
Friday, November 19th, 2010Just gonna take this wholesale from the always excellent DGB:
“Huntsville Got Starz and Slow Motion Soundz present the Huntsville Starz Resurface. In 2009 the Huntsville Got Starz staff had this thing called the Leak of the Week. Going into 2011 we thought we would bring a few of our favorites back. These are records that we broke to the internet with the intent to give the artist a good internet start and to let the industry know we know our city and the sound. We keep that tradition going giving DJ Bizzy from O-Third a chance to bring something to the table and showcase his talents. He mixed the project. Shout out to Dirty Glove Bastard for allowing us to drop this off here first. Enjoy.†– Codie G

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010Above you see the cover of the upcoming #Resurface Files, a compilation of historical highlights from the Hunstville hiphop scene handpicked by Codie G. himself. The song below is just a small preview of what this collection has in store, a little something from the under-appreciated Mr. Marcellus.

VIDEO: G-Side – 1.1.11 commercial
Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010
1.1.11 commercial from Lawrence and Clark on Vimeo.
The art of John Turner Jr, now in…. Slow Motion (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun). Anyway, here is a short commercial for G-side’s new album, coming on 1.1.11. The clip gives new life to some of the album art leaked over the past few weeks via the new SMS site and Hunstville Got Starz and brings a new dimension to the album’s promotional strategy devised by Codie G. It also serves as an introduction to the media production duo of Lawrence and Clark, the talent behind the aforementioned new website and creators of some crazy shit I can’t even show you yet. Please keep checking for updates on www.hsvinternational.com which will feature exclusive SMS related content not available anywhere else.
For a little bonus, here’s a re-up of G-Side’s Dreamz. I originally posted this song back in February, but it seems like an appropriate soundtrack as the group’s stature rises and the work on the new album continues with ever increasing momentum.
