I purposely waited for the album & mixtape to drop before putting this up, there were alot of tributes but NONE can ever compare to mines. Heres the 2hr Tribute I did, no Tracklisting, Enjoy the music for what it is. , If you take this mix and try to sell it in any way shape or form, you will get sued! I miss you P. Love u brother

PF Cuttin

A really great tribute mix of rarities and new stuff from Sean Price’s close friend and long-time collaborator (he did the pre-Monkey Barz Donkey Sean Jr mixtape, all the way back in 2003). This mix was briefly up on Cuttin’s Mixlr page, but as Cuttin mentions above it was removed to allow more attention for the the newly released Songs In The Key Price mixtape and EP. Now the mix is back up, hopefully for good because it’s likely the best Sean P tribute mix out there.

Looking forward to Wood’s new album.

While we’re here, lets mention that in 2015 Armand Hammer >>>>>>>> Cannibal Ox. Woods and Elusive use the established legacy of streetwise avant garde NY rap as a starting point and then build and expand outward from it, while Can Ox struggle to even meet the benchmarks they set themselves with the Cold Vein.

The first single from the new Ka album, presented in video form which has now become Ka’s tradition. In continuation of the Manchurian Candidate theme, again prominently used in this video, the song is billed to Dr. Yen Lo.  I’m guessing this is the group name for Ka and Preservation working together (feel free to correct me on this.)

Ka – Days With Dr. Yen Lo (Album Trailer)

Trailer for Ka’s new album, mysterious like under LL’s hat. The clip does not reveal much but this does appear to be a full length collaboration with Preservation (see here), who was on the boards for Ka’s 1200 BC EP.

The really curious thing here are the multiple allusions to the Manchurian Candidate. The trailer is a montage of clips from the movie, the album name is a reference to the villainous Communist doctor who brainwashes the protagonists, and the picture of the mixing board prominently features the Queen Of Diamonds card which in the movie activates the brainwashed assassins into action. So we can safely assume that the album will be thematically tied to the movie, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how.

Ma$ter Glo – Ghetto Elegance Vol 1 EP

Nice mix of styles on this new EP from Brooklyn’s Ma$ter Glo (previously known as Goldie Glo). Brooklyn grit commingles with smooth Uptown-ish flashiness; there is a reverence for the classic New York feel but also a modern ear open to A$AP’s cross-regional mutations, trap and Chicago drill. The key is that none of this clashes, for the most part things combine smoothly; which in itself makes for a sensible comment on the often divisive state of New York rap. It doesn’t have to be old school VS new school, neither in aesthetics nor in ideology. You can have both side by side and the world will keep turning just fine, and this EP is testament to that notion. Not everything here works but it’s an enjoyable listen with solid highlights. ‘Honor Tha God’, ‘Where U @’ and ‘Head Hunters’ are my favorites at the moment.

From the dope but waaaay too short and elusive 1200 BC EP recently released via Ka’s website.
