Sleeps Numb – “Sunsets Over Garbage” EP

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I wanted to re-up this at our new location here. Southern California is killing with beats right now. This dude hails from San Diego and seems to favor a bare bones approach with the SP-404 being his “weapon of choice.”

Blueprint – “1988″ (Video Version) + A Few Beats

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Blueprint says: “Last year i did a little video for the song “1988″. It was basically a picture collage of all the significant things that happened in the year 1988 or were poppin in the year 1988. However the video version of the song is a slightly different than the album version of the song. I did this to make the song a little easier to perform and to have something special for cats to hear when they come to the show as opposed to how they hear it on the record.”

And this “Beat of the Week” feature on his site/blog raises the eyebrows. I’m not sure if these are works in progress or just joints for the fans. Either way, it works:

Winding it up, I leave you with one of the best beats of 2009 from Blueprint’s Sign Language:

Lush One & PhillipDrummond “MFDR” Remix Album + Beats By The Boatload

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Before we migrated to this new piece of cyber real estate I reviewed Lush One & PhillipDrummond’s Music For Dope Runs. Unquestionably one of the best pieces of music to come out of California’s underground lair in 2008. They’re back with a remixed version. If a free remix album isn’t enough to get you salivating, PhillipDrummond has a gang of beats for you to download.
