I’m guessing that these are the best tracks that Boosie left in reserve. Typically solid stuff with some real gems scattered in.

5. Something Out Of Nothing (Prod. Phunk Dawg)
6. Paid My Dues
7. Gin In My Cup (Feat. Bad Azz Ent & Big Poppa)
8. Primetime (Feat. Leechie)
9. Cartoon (Feat. Mouse On Tha Track & Shell)
10. Gone But Not Forgotten (Prod. Big Wayne)
11. Niggas Ain’t Shit
12. Got You Where I Want You (Feat. Lola Monroe)
13. Fuck Em’ All (Prod. Big Wayne)
14. 8 Motherfuckas
15. Baby Gangsta

As the fellas at DGB took a couple trips down Lil Boosie memory lane, I was reminded of how largely skipped-over his brief association with Shreveport, LA’s Lava House Records is in the internet’s annals.
Mr. Mandingo, Angie Locc, Phunk Dawg, Bigg Pappa and Untame Mayne put out some solid jams in the late 90s and early 21st century, with 99′s “Da Ratchet” catching on as a micro-regional hit, but it took Boosie’s version a few years later for the song to become a bona fide Louisiana radio monster.
Street Tapes Vol. 1 not only chronicles the development of “Da Ratchet”, but provides us with some rarely heard songs from Boosie, Webbie and Hurricane Chris. As these songs are a lot more raw than their later work, fans of the Trill guys will love this stuff.

Finally. Kevin is currently locked up and there is a rumor floating around that he won’t be getting out anytime soon. Hopefully it’s just a rumor. I still maintain that New Orleans’ K. Gates is the better K. Gates, but Kevin consistently rips tracks to shreds. He can satisfy both the hardest wanna be trapster and the lyrical miracles simultaneously… II … While this is certainly a solid release, a bunch of these songs have been floating around for a while. The track with Nu$$ie is quite nice. RIP. Hopefully there is more new material on the way…

Pre-Pain Medicine music from one of Baton Rouge’s finest. Happy Perez supplies some fantastic beats here and Max rips the shit out of them. I think I may be looking forward to California Dreamin’ more than the actual album though.
