George Clinton & A.Leon Craft “Places To Fly”

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

The SMKA boys get tremendous propers for making this project happen. Craft and Clinton’s album of P-Funk remixes and brand new collaborative tracks will occupy space on this blog on the 20th.

Young Lyxx, Dee Goodz & A.Leon Craft “I’m At Home”

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

I am extremely excited for new Young Lyxx jammz. I’ve been trying to get you douches to pay attention for a while now. Rosaries On The Dresser is an atom-smasher. This breezy jammer will be on Happy To Be Here, which I hope includes a bunch more verses from Craft, who sounds perfect in between Lyxx and these lovely flutes.

A.Leon Craft & Backbone “Ghetto Dope”

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Craft is fully running with the DF torch right now. Backbone’s recent resurgence has been fun. Great SMKA beat. Get Dre to add a verse please. This album will be a winner.

Jarren Benton meets SMKA: Huffing Glue with Hasselhoff (Jan 25th)

Monday, January 10th, 2011

We (the Steadybloggin’ braintrust) have a good feeling about this. Jarren raps well, SMKA is on a roll lately, first leaks (below) are solid. I like ‘Spacesuits & Parachute’ a bit more than ‘Ima Murder’, but that’s mostly nitpicking. A few selections from Jarren’s previous project included below the jump in case you’re not familiar with his work.

Self explanatory. Wouldn’t mind it being longer and in mp3 form.

The Canz – Ferris Bueller (Personal Day) ft El Prez, Aleon Craft

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

I’m gonna hate for a sec. It’s a beautiful fall day outside, and I’m stuck at work and I really don’t want to be here, and these guys make a song about taking a day off to smoke and watch cartoons? This is a serious ‘salt in the wound’ kind of situation. Do you people even know how much of that blueberry shit I still got left in the jar? Do you realize I barely even cracked the new It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia dvd yet? Shit, I could be grilling my lunch in the sun right now, instead I’m at a desk under florescent beams. And you just throw it in my face like that? Screw you guys, NOT COOL.

Jokes aside, this song is pretty sweet. Love that psych/proggy intro.

Aleon Craft – The Stargazing Soundtrack

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Based on the early leaks and the two Prologue Eps I’m expecting some quality Blacklight Poster Rap. So far Aleon and SMKA have managed to stay away from the fruitier aspects of that particular subgenre, hopefully that’s the case here as well.

A.Leon Craft – Brand New Day ft. Young Scolla & Mikkey Halsted

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Another one from The Stargazing Soundtrack, featuring some young Midwest talents. The song is actually a rework of a track featured on The Prologue Pt. 1. Overall, this mixtape is looking really good so far. I’m tempted to ignore all further leaks from it just so it’s all still new to me once it comes out. That probably wont happen though.

VIDEO: A.Leon Craft – Strange

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Aleon Craft – “Strange” (prod. SMKA) from SMKA on Vimeo.

The song itself came out a few days ago, and now here come the kaleidoscopic visuals. I’m really impressed with SMKA and A.Leon for pulling this off, attempts at appropriating classic rock for rap purposes often end up disastrous but this works well.
