Tony Conquerrah did a nice tribute to the late Cedric Brooks on his show last night (which you should listen to because he has a great taste in reggae). That in turn inspired me to revisit a few of my own favorites by Brooks. I can’t claim in-depth expertise on his career, but I’m a big fan of reggae-jazz fusion in general and his work in that area is classic. Here are some examples. The long instrumental version of ‘Satta Massa Ganna’ from the United Africa album is particularly essential.
