Parallel Thought have had an unusual career in underground rap, producing for both stalwart backpacker heroes like Tame One and Del and new-school favorites like G-Side. Now after almost a decade of working for others they’re about to drop their own debut, a mostly instrumental album with a few MC features thrown in. I’m curious to see which side of the underground they’ll favor more here, and if they can bridge between the old and the new. This first single falls more in line with the older era, but there are also certain aspects of the production that don’t sound like anything from 10 years ago. So they’re off to promising start.
