Sulty instrumentals sourced entirely from 80s soul samples. As yacht rap as it gets. Would kill to hear a Curren$y & Fiend duet on any one of these.

Raise your hand if you’re generally pretty ok with how Curren$y’s career has progressed over the last few years, but still kinda wish he would drop another tape or two murdering a buttload of classic beats.

I’m a sucker for this sample, especially when it’s flipped in midnight funk fashion complimentary to Eddie Holman’s original.
Quelle Chris – The Chains
February 6th, 2012
I’m really diggin how Quelle dropped a very good (undeservedly underrated) Detroit garage soul inspired underground rap record last year, and then moved far into the left field to do things like this and this and now the track below. Even if the minimal wave stuff isn’t always my bag, I got tons of respect for his willingness to experiment with a completely different sound.

Antwon – Bacardi House (Prod By Bad Slorp)
February 6th, 2012
After the double falcon punch of My West Side Horizon and River Of Slime I’m down for pretty much anything Antwon and Bad Slorp may cook up together, including this dirty little toss-off.
Cities Aviv – Flex Your Gold
February 6th, 2012
Sounds like when your neighbors upstairs are doing drugs and blasting music at 3am and you’re torn between joining in or asking them to turn it down. If you’re more likely to join them, this song is for you.

I’ve been offered an opportunity that I never could have imagined.
I’ve been selected along with Brainfeeder artist Ras G to travel to the african nation of Uganda to teach a youth program about hip-hop and record a project with Ugandan rap artists.
The project was conceived and developed by LA hip-hop non-profit organization J.U.I.C.E. and has been partially funded by a grant from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The grant, however, calls for matching funds. This means that they fund half of the overall budget for the project with the responsibility of the other half being on us.
We began with a fundraising goal of $7,000. At the moment we’ve generated $1,200. We still have quite a bit of ground to cover.
We need any help that you could provide. 1 dollar, 5 dollars, 1,000 dollars. Each and every bit of assistance we get will help this once in a lifetime opportunity come to pass.
The song we’ve presented here is just an exercise in Ras and I putting something down. Its raps I wrote to a beat of his that I liked. We did this very quickly and I think it came out great. Whats in front of us tho, is the opportunity to visit another culture and and have experiences that could change our lives and help us make a project that could be a landmark in both of our careers.
Please help us and donate here:
