This feels like a great progression from what Droop-E was doing on BLVCK Diamond Life. He is creating his musical aesthetic entirely from scratch here (instead of building it from Sade samples), and placing it into a far more matured and ambitious visual setting than ever before.
EDIT: It seems like a lot of people are slightly puzzled by Nite Jewel’s presence here, but to me it feels continuous from what he did on BDL. Not in the sense of equating Sade to Nite Jewel, they are obviously very different artists. It’s more in application – the way he uses Nite Jewel’s contribution feels very similar to how he used Sade’s samples on his previous EP.
